Paul Choi, M.D.
Paul Choi is a psychiatrist with a deep passion for supporting others in healing and finding happiness, meaning, and peace in their lives. Paul graduated from Duke University with a degree in Religious Studies, went on to complete his medical degree at Stanford University and his psychiatry residency at the University of Washington. Throughout his medical career, Paul has been driven by a desire to not only help people suffer less, but to guide them toward leading more fulfilled, joyful lives.
While in medical school, Paul took several years off to immerse himself in intensive Buddhist meditation and silent retreats. These experiences shaped his approach to psychiatry, inspiring him to integrate mindfulness, meditation, and psychedelic therapies into his practice. Paul’s work is informed by the belief that many people suffer due to deeply ingrained, limiting beliefs formed by past traumas, and his goal is to help clients break free from these self-limiting stories. He sees the transformative potential of therapies like psilocybin, ayahuasca, and ketamine to help individuals shift their perspectives, leading to more vibrant, “juicy” lives, full of joy, connection, and love.
Although his psychiatry training initially felt overly focused on medications, Paul came to appreciate the balance between the appropriate use of medication and holistic healing approaches. His work combines tenderness, empathy, and a deep love for his patients, creating a space where clients feel safe, supported, and seen. Paul is committed to helping others discover their own inner resources for healing, leading to long-lasting transformation in their relationships, careers, and lives.
Outside of his professional work, Paul enjoys backpacking, hiking, swimming in mountain lakes, and spending time with his wife and their always-hungry English Labrador. He is also an active member of the Santo Daime Church and a passionate singer.
