Carrie McMullin, Psy.D.
Dr. Carrie McMullin is both a licensed psychologist and a licensed psilocybin facilitator. She has a 20 year career in mental health focusing on providing client-centered care for a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, and trauma. As a facilitator she is warm, gentle, and values helping clients connect to and find compassion for themselves.
Carrie was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. She had some meaningful personal experiences with non-ordinary states that led her to reflect on the nature of the mind, and on the human capacity for flexibility and growth. This led to an interest in studying psychology, first at the undergraduate level, then working as a research assistant in a neuroscience lab, and then she completed a doctoral degree in clinical psychology. Carrie’s career since then has primarily been as a generalist psychologist in both university counseling and private practice settings. Being a generalist has meant cultivating an appreciation for a wide range of people with an array of backgrounds and life experiences, who present for therapy in so many different ways. She values being ready to meet clients where they are, with genuine interest and non-judgment. Carrie draws from evidence based approaches, but always prioritizes the client’s hopes and choices in order to steer her work.
Carrie’s main priority in this work is in providing a safe, ethical, caring presence for clients who choose to pursue this uniquely vulnerable experience. To help create a foundation of safety, she believes in investing heavily in the preparation stage of facilitation. You can expect thorough informed consent, support and collaboration for a personally-tailored journey, and trust-building all from a framework that is culturally-responsive and LGBTQ+ affirming.
